Majorana 2

Majorana 2 is Microsoft’s next-generation topological quantum chip, built on a new materials stack that Microsoft says delivers a 1,000-fold increase in qubit reliability over the previous generation and lets it target a scalable quantum computer by 2029. It enters the corpus through the June 3 item, notable less for the qubits than for the method: the chip was developed with the help of Microsoft Discovery’s agentic AI, the substrate becoming a design target of the kind of system it is meant to run.
