Discovery Loop

Public benefit corporation founded to automate the scientific method. Four of Google’s most senior researchers, Jeff Dean, Sanjay Ghemawat, Oriol Vinyals and Quoc Le, left to found it in August 2026, with Google investing and contributing a year of compute (Wired). Its plan is to run thousands of autonomous experiment loops that begin by improving their own algorithms before moving to chips, biology and materials, which is why its founding sits in the recursive-self-improvement cluster and not only under automated science.
