Released by Andrej Karpathy in March 2026, autoresearch turns his nanochat training setup into a loop that agents drive end to end. In this corpus it appears at its announcement, a day later with 650 experiments across two days, and as the root of the autoresearch lineage that continues with Bilevel Autoresearch and the finding that giving the agent research papers improves its results.
