Sora is OpenAI’s text-to-video model and app (product page). In this corpus it bookends a reallocation of compute: Disney’s $1 billion investment opened Mickey Mouse and Darth Vader to Sora users in December, and by April Sam Altman said OpenAI had shut Sora down to concentrate compute on its next generation of automated researchers, which the newsletter read as recursive self-improvement going well.
