Desktop app with direct file system access, written by Claude Code in 1.5 weeks. Claude Cowork gives Claude direct access to a user’s file system so it can sort downloads, reorganize folders and generate reports from local files (announcement). Its place in this corpus is less what it does than how it was made: Boris Cherny confirmed that Claude Code wrote all of it in a week and a half, the step between the 200 pull requests the model wrote for him in December and the 100% of product code figure of February in the recursive-self-improvement storyline.
